Riverside CA: Places to See
Need something to do this weekend? Looking for fun upcoming events? Here is a list of our favorite places to see and things to do in Riverside, CA:
The Parent Washington Navel Tree
The Washington Navel Orange Tree has brought us the delicious seedless oranges that we know and love today. The first pair of these trees were planted in Riverside in the 1870s. While one of the original trees died in 1921, the other parent tree that is the single source of the state’s orange industry is still right here in Riverside. The tree resides on a patch of land in a Riverside intersection with a plaque to highlight its importance. This is an interesting piece of Riverside history that you won’t want to miss.
Southern California Medical Museum
The Southern California Medical Museum is another interesting place that you can visit in Riverside. The small medical museum includes a recreated doctor’s office and features a collection of medical artifacts, photography, and a library that dates back to 1843. This is certainly a must-see for anyone who enjoys museums or learning more about interesting pieces of history.
Graffiti Waterfall
The graffiti waterfall is a semi-secret natural feature that many locals love to experience. The waterfall is nestled behind a Riverside colony and is adorned with years of interesting street art. This is certainly a unique feature that you will not see anywhere else. The waterfall mixes urban art with natural beauty in a way that you rarely see in other locations.
Tio’s Tacos
Another interesting place that you will only see in Riverside is Tio’s Tacos, a taqueria in the heart of historic Downtown Riverside that features some of the best Mexican food and folk art in the area. Though the food is your usual Southern California fast-casual Mexican dining, the unique and interesting collection of folk art allows you to experience a little piece of art history as you enjoy some delicious Mexican food.
